Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities

ASC_0411.jpg

Dame Janet Primary Academy aims to be as inclusive as possible.

We are fortunate enough to have fantastic facilities across both sites including care suites, intervention rooms and calm areas. We also have wheel chair access on both sites and are more than happy to discuss any individual access requirements your child may have.

Activities and school trips are open to all pupils, risk assessments are carried out beforehand and if this suggests an intensive level of 1:1 support is required a parent or carer may be asked to accompany the child.

If your child is joining our school with a pre-existing medical condition or having had previous SEND support we will allocate our support according to information provided by the feeder school, yourselves and assessments by class teachers and our SEND team if necessary.

The SENCO may visit their previous school or pre-school to observe and collect information. Your child will be able to visit DJPA and if appropriate stay for a taster session, we will also offer a transition book if this may help things run smoothly.

If your child has a medical condition, then a detailed care plan will be compiled with yourself by our First Aid Leader.
