Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to all publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged children.

The school will receive additional funding to cover the catering cost and school funding grants, such as the 'Pupil Premium', based on their take up of free school meals.

This additional funding is used by the school to address any underlying inequalities for eligible pupils by increasing social mobility, enabling pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve high academic standards and to close the attainment gap with the outcomes of those who are not eligible.

Parents can check eligibility through Kent County Councils ‘Education and Children’ service here and, if eligible, their child will receive free school meals and will receive a £15 food voucher per eligible child each week during the school holidays.

If eligible, parents are not obliged to accept the free school meals for their child, but encouraged to apply as the additional funding gained would still benefit education provision at the school.

Staff at Dame Janet Primary Academy are committed to narrowing the gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. Read the Pupil Premium Strategy Statement below for more information on how this is achieved.
