28th / 29th September 2018

Friday evening saw Dame Janet host the first round of the John Curran Cup. Our year 5 and 6 boys were competing against four other schools to win a place into the second round. Although the boys played well they unfortunately did not make it through. Well done to Harley, Blazej, Max, Oliver, Charlie, Alfie, Mo, Dylan and Cadan.

It was an early start Saturday morning for our year 5 and 6 girls football team, as they headed to Upton to play for the DW Trophy and TPSFA Girls Cup. In the group stage the girls won one, drew one and lost one, which resulted in them coming second and progressing to the next round. The first of the second round games ended in a draw so it was time for an intense penalty shoot out, which the girls won 4-3. They then went on to play their last game against St Saviours, to determine who came 3rd and 4th. Unfortunately the girls lost the last game but finished 4th in the competition, out of a total of 16 schools. Well done Louisa, Lana, Eva, Chloe, Lacy, Lucy, Cassie and Grace. A great achievement!

29th January 2019

On Tuesday a small group of KS1 children competed in a Rapid Fire Cricket competition at Dane Court. It was the first time the selected pupils had represented Dame Janet or competed in a competition. All played extremely well, behaved brilliantly, displayed great sportsmanship and came 2nd overall out of the ten schools that took part. Well done Isobelle, Dorian, Eli, Thomas, Jude, Josie, James and Summer!

Saturday 23rd March 2019

This morning the children braved the cold to take part in this years 6 Nations Rugby Tournament held at Upton. The children played extremely well and finished the first round with 3 wins and 1 loss. They then went on to play for the England cup where they drew their first game and won their second but unfortunately lost their last two games. Even though the children did not leave with a trophy they earnt their medal, finishing within the top 10 out of 25 teams. As always the children showed good sportsmanship and should be really proud of their efforts. Well done Louisa, Dylan, Kian, Max, Cadan, Mo, Lana, Charlie, Blazej and Cassie!

Thursday 28th March 2019

After school on Thursday our year 5 and 6 girls played their first football matches of the year. Fourteen girls split into two teams represented Dame Janet and played three friendly games against Bromstone, St Ethelberts and each other. Even though no goals were scored the girls played well, had fun and, as always, demonstrated great sportsmanship. It was a good practice in preparation for the upcoming football season!

Saturday 27th April 2019 – 24th Annual Thanet Rugby Festival

On Saturday morning the children braved the wind and took part in the 24th Annual Thanet Rugby Festival at Upton. Our team played brilliantly and won all their games. However, this festival was all about sportsmanship which our team, as always, displayed. They did a fantastic job at representing their school and their selected country Canada.

Well done Blazej, Cassie, Chloe, Dylan, Lana, Louisa, Mathew and Max. Thank you to the parents for their continued support.
