Friday 15th September 2017
The Thanet schools football season kicked started tonight with DJPA hosting the first year 5&6 football festival of this academic year. Saint Ethelbert's, Newington Community Primary, and Minster Primary all came along to join the fun. Dame Janet won two, drew one and lost one with Max B opening his Dame Janet account scoring the first goal of the season. Well done to all who played, great sportsmanship as always!




Friday 22nd September 2017
Friday 22nd September saw the second football festival of the season with Dame Janet hosting again to Bromstone, Christchurch, St Laurence and Newlands. The festival had a dramatic start with Max, our top scorer from last week, coming off through injury in the first 2 minutes with a suspected broken thumb. Despite this our team continued playing their best with Mo and Harley both scoring, securing us 1 draw and 3 wins.

Saturday 30th September 2017
This weekend has been a busy one for our football teams. Firstly, Friday night saw DJPA host one of the first rounds of the John Curran cup, our 5 and 6 boys played well but unfortunately didn't make it through to the second round. Well done and good luck to St Saviours who won the round.
It was then our year 3 and 4 boys turn to display their talents with a friendly against Newlands, the boys played really well and won 6-1 with Harley scoring all 6 goals!
It was an early start Saturday morning for our girls who toke part in the Dave Walker cup at Upton. They played 6 games, won 3, drew 2 and lost 1. The girls played extremely well and came 3rd in their group.
We are really proud of all our teams who played this weekend, they all displayed good sportsmanship as always. We would like to thank the parents/ guardians for their continuous support.









Friday 6th October 2017
This Friday saw Dame Janet hosting another football festival for the year 5 and 6 boys; joined this time by St Laurence, Chilton and Saint Elthelbert’s. The Dame Janet boys were really on the ball this week gaining themselves 2 wins and a draw, it was a real team effort but well done to Cody, Mo and Max (who scored himself a hat-trick) for getting the goals. Well done to all who played, once again displaying great team work and sportsmanship.




Friday 13th October 2017
It was another busy weekend of football for our year 5 and 6 girls and boys. First up was a friendly for our girls, held at Dame Janet against St Ethelbert’s, the girls played well and were 1-0 up but unfortunately were beaten with a 2-1 win to St Ethelbert’s.
It was an early start Saturday for our 5 and 6 boys who participated in the ‘Super Saturday’ tournament held at Upton. It was a long morning for the boys, who had eight games to play. Although they played really well with 2 wins, 5 draws and only 1 loss this unfortunately wasn’t enough to see them go home with a trophy.
A big well done to all who played and all who supported! (Many thanks to K. Robson for some of these amazing photos!)























Friday 10th November 2017
It was a busy football Friday this week with both our year 5 and 6 and 3 and 4 teams playing. The afternoon kicked started with our 5 and 6 boys going over to Upton to play our first round game of the Les Riggs cup, against Hadden Dean. The boys played well and won 3-1 with Charlie scoring all 3 goals, we now progress into the second round.
After school it was year 3 and 4s turn, playing in a friendly against Bromstone, they again played extremely well and won the game, with Harley, Mikolaj, William, Oliver, Kenzie, Thomas and Ryanlee all contributing to the goals scored.
Well done to all who played and thank you again to their supporters!



Tuesday 5th December 2017 – Yr 5&6 Les Riggs second
Our 2nd round Les Riggs cup game was away against current holders Minster. It was always going to be a tough match as Minster are a very strong team. The boys (Josh, Louis, Harley, Blazej, Arragon, Henry, Mohammed and Max) did well to keep it goalless until 5 minutes before half time but once Minster scored, the goals kept coming and they were victorious with a 5-0 win. Well done to all the boys who plays and as 5 of the team members are in year 5 it should bode well for next year.
Friday 26th February 2018
Our year 5 and 6 Handball tea travelled over to King Ethelberts on Friday evening for the KSG Handball Qualifiers. We were in a group with 5 other teams and managed to win 2, lose 2 and draw 1. The children behaved impeccably and played well.

Friday 23rd February 2018 - Years 3 and 4 Hockey Tournament
Our Year 3 and 4 Hockey players ventured over to Chatham House on Friday evening to take part in a Hockey Tournament, against a number of other Thanet Primary Schools. The children played extremely well and finished with one win and two draws, with two other games not counting towards the final score. Well done to Harley, Oliver, Mikolaj, Lacey, Maisie and Myiah, you did yourselves and Dame Janet proud!




Saturday 24th February 2018 - Years 3-6 Girls and Boys Cross Country
It was an early start Saturday morning for our Cross Country runners who braved the cold, put on their trainers and took to the muddy 1500m track at Quex Park. All our runners had to battle against the strong winds and did extremely well. From those that completed the race; to those that had to pull our through injury you should all be pleased and proud of your efforts. Year 3: Matthew, James and Eddie, Year 5: Lana, Cherry and Logan, Year 6: Jenna, Kelsey, Alexia-Rae, Maximus, Jayden and Max.

Friday 9th March 2018 - Rugby Festival
On Friday (9.03.18) our mixed year 5&6 rugby teams braved the rain and represented Dame Janet Primary Academy at a rugby festival, playing against Christ Church and Chilton. The children played well, especially in their first game and ended with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. Well done to Josh, Louis, Finn, Harley, Dylan, Jenna, Tilly, Chloe, Max, Mo, Blazej, Cassie, Lana, Louise, Henry and Shay who made up the two teams.
Monday 12th March 2018 - Premier League Primary Stars Tournament
On Monday 12th March the girls’ football team travelled to Canterbury and took part in a Premier League Football tournament. The girls played with a great attitude and although they didn’t win any games they seemed to really enjoy the experience.
Well done Shannon, Tilly, Chloe, Cassie, Lana, Louisa and Kelsie, you did Dame Janet proud.












Saturday 21st April 2018 was a lovely sunny morning for the ‘6 Nations’ Rugby Tournament. Over 250 children took part in one of the biggest schools’ rugby events of the year.
Dame Janet Primary Academy had two teams enter this year, one year 5 team (Chloe, Cassie, Lana, Blaze, Shay and Connor) who finished fourth in the group stage and one year 6 team (Tilly, Chloe, Josh, Cody, Finn, Louis and Connor) who finished first.
Both teams played extremely well but unfortunately didn’t come home with a trophy.
All the players received medals at the end of the event and should be proud of themselves for their effort and sportsmanship throughout the day.
A special mention to Mathew who came to support his sister but stepped in to play due to us not having enough players, thank you and well done!
Thank you also to the parents and staff for you continued support; it was an all-round enjoyable morning.






5th May 2018 – Year 5&6 ‘World Cup Rugby Tournament’
Our year 5 and 6 girls and boys woke earlier this Saturday to participate in a rugby tournament at Upton School. Each school represented a country, and we were Ireland. The children got into the spirit of things with the Irish flag painted on their faces.
Although this time they did not leave with a trophy, the children played with brilliant sportsmanship and most importantly, had a lot of fun.
Well done all!

On Wednesday 20th June 2018 , selected children from years 5 and 6 travelled to Allianz Park in London to take part in this years TKAT Games. There were 30+ TKAT schools at the event that Dame Janet competed against in a number of athletic events. Dame Janet put on a good performance; finishing in the top ten for many events, having two finalist in the 100m and coming home with two third place medals. Whether the children were competing or supporting all did extremely well and behaved impeccably throughout the day. Thank you and well done to all who took part, you did yourselves proud!
Friday evening kicked off the school football season with our 5 and 6 boys taking part in a football festival at Upton. The boys played five, non stop, eight minute games, winning three and losing two. They played extremely well with great sportsmanship as always. Well done Max, Blazej, Aragon, Mo, Dylan, Harley, Oliver and Mikolaj.
